This new program will launch thanks, in part, to a seed grant from the Community Grants Fund and the Frank Forcheimer Endowment Fund of the Columbus Jewish Foundation.
Mission Impossible?
In such a time as this, with the contentious state of today’s economy and the impending health care reform, is this mission impossible? David Rosen, President and CEO of Wexner Heritage Village, doesn’t think so
“Wexner Heritage Village isn’t just a nursing home ...
Introducing a sustainable model of health for our community.
Wexner Heritage Village has grown its brick and mortar base exponentially since its establishment in the early 1950s. Since its inception, customers have been required to come to us for services, but there is growing demand for a more customer-centered approach to meeting the needs of older adults.
This new approach incorporates customer choice into frameworks of service that start in the client's home, allowing and encouraging aging-in-place and increased independence. According to AARP, eight out of ten clients of aging services programming say they would prefer to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. In order to allow that to happen for this savvy target population, community and home-based services are now in the spotlight.
WHV's strategic plan calls for the creation of a home-based system of care that will grow the organization beyond the boundaries of its home campus to offer care in the way that is expected by the community while also answering the issues laid out above.
Plans are underway to launch this new program in 2009.
