Outstanding Volunteers
We’re so proud of our volunteers
From time to time volunteers at Wexner Heritage Village receive special honors, awards, and accolades for doing what they do– caring for our residents, patients, and their families in a way that is profoundly impactful. For this, we are eternally grateful. From the bottom of our hearts– we thank them for their dedication, passion, and servant-hearts.
Mark Weinstein, Zusman Hospice
Zusman Hospice is proud to announce Mark Weinstein was awarded the 2010 Midwest Care Alliance Volunteer of the Year award. Mr. Weinstein is an outstanding volunteer at Zusman Hospice and has made a wonderfully positive impact during his 4 ½ years of service as a hospice volunteer—including his role as a para-chaplain, assisting patients and their families with spiritual care needs.
“Mark is a volunteer par excellence. His warmth and humor combined with his passion and dedication to serving others makes him the perfect recipient for this award, “said Rabbi Sharon Mars, Zusman Hospice Jewish Chaplain and Assistant Director of Spiritual Life at Wexner Heritage Village.
Each year, Midwest Care Alliance—formerly known as Ohio Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (OHPCO)—honors individuals who have made a difference in the area of home, hospice, and palliative care. Mr. Weinstein accepted his Volunteer of the Year plaque at the Midwest Care Alliance Annual Conference in November.
Winning this award is a true honor, as hospice and home health volunteers from all over the state of Ohio are eligible. An excerpt from Mr. Weinstein’s nomination reveals why he was the perfect choice for the Volunteer of the Year honor, “Mark never misses a scheduled visit and often goes above and beyond without being asked—when he sees a need, he does what he can to address it. There are just some things no volunteer can be trained to do. Mark has an extraordinary personality that allows someone to truly ‘know’ a person and make that special connection…. to Mark, volunteering is more than just a way to keep busy in retirement, it’s a passion.”
“On behalf of Zusman Hospice and Wexner Heritage Village, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mark for this exemplary, well-deserved accomplishment,” said David Rosen, President and CEO at Wexner Heritage Village.
