Long-Term & Alzheimer’s Care
What is Long-Term Care?
Long-term care facilities, also known as skilled nursing facilities or nursing homes, are healthcare facilities designed to provide extensive medical and personal care for individuals unable to care for themselves alone. Enriching activities and programming are designed to support residents and create an enjoyable, fulfilling life in a dignified environment. Professionals and volunteers, such as those at Wexner Heritage House, are trained in providing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support for residents, as well as resident family members.
What Are Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Care?
Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of memory impairment often require living environments that are secure to ensure their safety. Staffing for skilled nursing facilities with Alzheimer’s or memory care units are specially trained, as they are at Wexner Heritage House, to encourage interaction, conversation, physical activities, and cognitive activities.
