Sept. 19, 2005 - Wexner Heritage Village Awards Associates, Recognizes Community Supporters

COLUMBUS, Ohio – At the Annual Meeting of Wexner Heritage Village on September 13, the organization celebrated its current expansion of housing and services including Creekside at the Village, Village Shalom Apartments and Zusman House, all set to open by the end of the year. A new Transitional Care Unit has been successfully implemented at Wexner Heritage House to offer short-term inpatient rehabilitation. The VanTran community transportation program added a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to provide rides to medical appointments and shopping destinations. In addition to celebrating the current growth of the organization, several associates and supporters were honored with awards made possible through donations of generous families.

Associates receiving the peer-nominated awards serve residents in Wexner Heritage House, a skilled nursing facility, and Shalom House, group homes for those with mental retardation/developmental disabilities. The Evelyn Moss Compassion Award was presented to Connie Zornes. Recipients of the Abe A. Wolman Performance Awards were Lori Renick, Sabrina Henry, Crissy Marcum and Debbie Taylor. Two individuals, Shirley Sherman and Charlene Banks shared the honor of Simson Associate of the Year.

Wexner Heritage Village also honored community partners for their contributions to enhancing the lives of the older adults served by the organization. For his years of service, Alan Weiler received the Eleanor & Jack Resler Life With Dignity Award. The Chair’s Award recognized the efforts of AOHPA, the advocate for not-for-profit services for older Ohioans.

In addition, two lifetime appointments were made to the Wexner Heritage Village Board of Directors. Theodore G. Fisher and Benson A. Wolman received the honor for their years of service on the board and generous support given to Wexner Heritage Village. Fisher and Wolman are residents of the Bexley area.
