Zusman House to Bring Inpatient Hospice Care in the Jewish Tradition

May 31, 2005

The Larry & Leonore Zusman Jewish Community Hospice will build Zusman House to add a dedicated space for inpatient care to its traditional home-based hospice services. To be built adjacent to Wexner Heritage House, 1151 College Ave., Zusman House will offer patient rooms, a common living area and kitchen, a chapel and offices. A highlight will be a patio accessible from each patient room.

Hospice services provide a holistic approach to care for terminally ill individuals that includes pain and symptom management, spiritual and social support, and an array of home health and volunteer services as needed. The general goals are enhancing the quality of life of patients and their families, and keeping patients in their own homes. Inpatient hospice care is helpful in a patient’s advanced disease stages and as a respite from the challenges of home care.

“ We are thrilled to be expanding our services and presence in the community so we can be there at all phases of this time of life. Thanks to this gift we will have the space and resources for a wide spectrum of care. We’ll continue to be a resource and hope people will call with any questions or needs regarding end-of-life issues, even if not ready to enroll,” said Gayle Rosen, community outreach coordinator for Larry & Leonore Zusman Jewish Community Hospice.

Zusman House is expected to open later this year. For more information, contact Larry & Leonore Zusman Jewish Community Hospice at 614-559-0350.
