Creekside at the Village Opens to Rave Reviews

Nov. 14, 2005

Delighted tenants have been moving in to Wexner Heritage Village’s latest addition, Creekside at the Village, a five-story, 82-unit apartment building for older adults. The community members are enjoying the results of detailed construction and professional interior decorating, as well as a staff that includes a concierge, stewards, housekeepers and one of the city’s finest executive chefs.

“The goal with Creekside at the Village was to answer a need seen in previous research studies for gracious independent living for older adults, who wished to maintain their lifestyles as they age. Creekside is an unparalleled setting that can offer a range of flexible services as people need them. It is fulfilling the goal,” said Richard S. Lamden, president/CEO.

An open house and grand opening is scheduled for December 6 at 7:00 p.m., which will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours and a dessert reception. It is free and open to anyone in the community. Reservations, however, are required and can be made by calling 559-5512.

As new tenants move in, they are finding decorated parlors, rather than hallways, that lead to gracious apartments. Each unit features a full kitchen with granite and cherry wood accents, and some units have amenities such as balconies and fireplaces. The organization scheduled just a few move-ins per day so that the staff could give personal attention to each new community member and to avoid crowding elevators and common areas.

As community members settle in they are enjoying the Buckeye Room, a meeting place with an LCD television and game tables, as well as the Creekside Café offering lunch and snacks. Staff have also organized group activities including an ice cream social and outings for shopping. A workshop and putting green is also available for members to use anytime at Creekside. In addition, some members have already joined together for daily trips to the nearby Leo Yassenoff Jewish Community Center for swimming and classes.

“Several of our members are old friends and others have made connections at our pre-leasing lunches and events held in the past year. It’s really fun to see how people are making new routines and enjoying living in a community setting that has so much to offer,” said Carolyn Brausch, leasing coordinator.
