Long-Term Care Resources
State of Ohio Long-Term-Care Consumer Guide:
The Ohio Long-Term Care Consumer Guide provides information about nursing homes and assisted living facilities to help consumers, family members and professionals search for the appropriate facility to meet an individual’s needs. If you have determined that you need to move to a nursing or assisted living facility, you can start to compare facilities by using www.ltc.ohio.gov where you can search using several different variables. The site also conducts an annual Nursing Home Family Satisfaction Survey.
Ohio’s Long-Term-Care Ombudsman:
Twelve Regional Long-term Care Ombudsmen safeguard consumers of care services in their areas, advocating for quality care, investigating complaints and giving them a voice. About half of these regional programs are part of the Area Agency on Aging, while the other half are housed within other community service and advocacy agencies.
Ombudsmen field complaints about long-term care services, voice clients’ needs and concerns to nursing homes, home health agencies, and other providers of long-term care. While they do not “police” nursing homes and home health agencies, they work with the long-term care provider and you, your family, or other representatives to resolve problems and concerns you may have about the quality of services you receive.
Ombudsmen link you with the services or agencies you need to live a more productive, fulfilling life, advise you on selecting long-term care in Ohio, inform you about the rights of consumers and provide information and assistance with benefits and insurance. For more information on the Ombudsman program, call 1-800-282-1206. For the region serving Wexner Heritage Village, the contact information is below.
