Mission Impossible?
In such a time as this, with the contentious state of today’s economy and the impending health care reform, is this mission impossible? David Rosen, President and CEO of Wexner Heritage Village, doesn’t think so
“Wexner Heritage Village isn’t just a nursing home ...
Introducing a sustainable model of health for our community.
Volunteering at Wexner Heritage Village offers a great opportunity to give back to the community while positively impacting the lives of the older and disabled adults that we serve. There are many opportunities to help us meet our mission through our various programs and services. For more information on these opportunities, call 614-231-4900.
The Auxiliary of Wexner Heritage House is an example of how the past intertwines with the future in so many ways.
In 1951, a concerned group of community members, led by Mrs. Mollie Nutis, started a grassroots effort to establish a home for Jewish elderly. The Columbus Jewish Home for the Aged began with only a handful of residents on Woodland Avenue. Some of the members of the group that worked so hard to bring the home to reality formalized its operations and became what is today known as the Auxiliary of Wexner Heritage House.
The group first focused its efforts on making sure the needs of residents were met. The Linen Shower became the first concerted effort to raise funds and in-kind contributions such as sheets and bedding materials from the community. Eventually, the group grew to offer social programming to benefit the lives of residents as well.
Today, with hundreds of members, the organization continues to offer support through contributions of needed items and through special events designed to enhance the quality of life for those living at Wexner Heritage House. Parties for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Purim, Hannukkah, and for resident birthdays are just a few of the events sponsored by the Auxiliary.
The Auxiliary is always looking for new members and volunteers to assist with events, parties, and in the Gift Shop. Additionally, financial contributions to the Linen Shower and other Auxiliary funds are greatly appreciated.
