Local Seniors Look Forward to Life at Creekside at the Village

October 8, 2004

The latest local senior living apartment facility, Creekside at the Village, is steadily rising in its College Avenue home nestled between Berwick and Bexley. Wexner Heritage Village (WHV) is building the new independent living facility that will offer 82 well-appointed apartments and services such as meals, housekeeping, valet and concierge services. Creekside is set to open August 2005 and has just 25 apartments left for pre-leasing.

A community of the future residents, called the Charter Club, has already formed. They have been meeting regularly at events such as the “Bricks and Mortar” party which celebrated the beginning of Creekside’s construction and a seminar on moving tips geared especially for seniors. The Charter Club members come from central Ohio, but also areas such as Zainesville, Akron and states like Florida, Georgia and New Jersey. Many are returning to Columbus because it is home and close to family and friends.

“ They are part of a small percentage of seniors who proactively choose downsizing in anticipation of challenges as they age. Rather than let health issues force a hasty move, they have looked ahead and chosen to get the most out of their golden years. Studies have shown that the more active and social you are, the longer you are likely to live,” said Carolyn Brausch, leasing coordinator.

Many future residents consider Creekside ideal because it is centrally located, newly built with the latest considerations for senior lifestyles and it is part of the Wexner Heritage Village family of services. WHV has served local seniors since 1951 and offers rehabilitation services, senior transportation on VanTran, Jewish Community Hospice and top notch skilled nursing care should the need arise.

Wexner Heritage Village is a not-for-profit provider of health, housing, social and spiritual services in the central Ohio community, primarily serving older adults and persons with disabilities. Its mission, guided by Jewish values and traditions, is to assist those it serves in pursuing their fullest human potential. The campus serves the entire community and includes: Wexner Heritage House, a 200-bed nursing facility, Heritage Tower and Bexley Heritage Apartments, HUD-sponsored independent living, Creekside at the Village, premier independent apartments, Shalom House North and South, two MRDD group homes, Village Shalom Apartments, Heritage at Home and Jewish Community Hospice.
