Wexner Heritage Village Celebrates Opening of Creekside at the Village
Dec. 15, 2005
Over two hundred community members gathered on December 6 to celebrate the opening of Creekside at the Village, a new five-story, 82-unit apartment building for older adults. The independent living project is the latest addition to the Wexner Heritage Village family of services.
“The goal with Creekside at the Village was to answer a need seen in previous research studies for gracious independent living for older adults who wished to maintain their lifestyles as they age. Creekside is an unparalleled setting that can offer a range of flexible services as people need them. It is truly fulfilling the goal,” said Richard S. Lamden, president/CEO.
The “Grande Opening” event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours and a dessert reception. Guest speakers included WHV current Board of Directors chair, Jim Bowman and past chairs Ted Fisher and Dr. Kurt Malkoff. Community leaders also participated including Rabbi Harold Berman, Mike Canter, chair of the Columbus Jewish Federation Board of Directors, Rabbi Misha Zinkow and Rabbi Howard Zack.
Creekside offers unparalleled amenities such as furnished parlors, rather than hallways, that lead to gracious apartments. Each unit features a full kitchen with granite and cherry wood accents, and some units have amenities such as balconies and fireplaces. The Creekside community members are enjoying the results of detailed construction and professional interior decorating, as well as a staff that includes a concierge, stewards, housekeepers and one of the city’s finest executive chefs. As community members settle in they are enjoying the Buckeye Room, a meeting place with an LCD television and game tables, as well as the Creekside Café offering lunch and snacks. A workshop and putting green is also available for members to use anytime at Creekside.
In addition to the gracious amenities, health services are available for tenants to contract if the need arises. They also have access to the Wexner Heritage Village family of services including rehabilitative and skilled nursing care.
“Creekside proves that aging doesn’t have to mean that you give up living well. This is a community of individuals who are being proactive about the challenges of being an older adult,” said Carolyn Brausch, leasing coordinator.
