Wexner Heritage House Resident Council Raises Funds Through Raffle

December 19, 2006

COLUMBUS, Ohio –The Wexner Heritage House Resident Council recently raised $3,960 during its annual raffle. The group of residents meets to advise staff on issues of daily living at the nursing home and also for social and philanthropic purposes. In addition to donations to charities, the Resident Council will use proceeds from the raffle to provide activities such as the annual New Year’s Eve Party.

The council members solicited local businesses and craftspeople to amass 125 items for the raffle. Prizes included unique sterling silver jewelry created by artist Jackie Callis Gerton, an original artwork by Mindy Snyder, OSU sports memorabilia and gift certificates to places such as Confluence Park, Giuseppe’s Ritrovo, Katzinger’s Deli, Cameron Mitchell’s and others. The grand prize, a trip to Oglebay Park Resort and Casino was donated by Jack and Rose Engle.

Over the past year, the Resident Council has voted to send donations to Mazon Hunger Relief, Simon Weisenthal Museum and the Tuskegee Airman.

“This just goes to show that we can still do something great with our time. So many people were so generous with their time and contributions to make it another great success,” said Delores Wells, president of the Resident Council.
