Creeksisde at the Village Celebrates First Year

November 29, 2006

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A festive afternoon party was held at Creekside at the Village recently to celebrate the first year of the independent living community. Members of the community joined with family, friends and staff to enjoy wine and chocolates while listening to the jazz tunes provided by the Jon Mitchell Band.

Wexner Heritage Village built Creekside at the Village, a five-story building consisting of 82 well-appointed apartments, in response to a survey of the community that defined a need for gracious independent living for seniors in the Bexley/Berwick area. The survey effort further showed a desire for top-notch amenities such as concierge services, regular housekeeping, fine dining, valet parking and a variety of planned activities. At the mark of its first year, Creekside at the Village is delivering all this included in each member’s monthly rent.

In addition, packaged health services can be arranged as the senior tenants have needs arise. Members also have access to WHV’s skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation and hospice programs. Such continuity of care that allows for “aging in place” is a trend across the nation.

“Creekside at the Village was carefully planned so that it would appeal to the needs of today’s older adults. As Baby Boomers start entering their senior years, it has been widely seen that they will demand smaller housing communities with the utmost of flexibility and continuity as they move through different stages of aging,” said David Rosen, senior vice president and chief operating officer at WHV.

Rosen stated that Wexner Heritage Village is beginning to look at its long-range strategic plan to find ways to further create solutions for the future of senior services in central Ohio and remain at the leading edge of providing such programs.

Wexner Heritage Village is a not-for-profit provider of health, housing, social and spiritual services in the central Ohio community, primarily serving older adults and persons with disabilities. Its mission, guided by Jewish values and traditions, is to assist those it serves in pursuing their fullest human potential. The campus serves the entire community and includes: Wexner Heritage House, a 200-bed nursing facility, Heritage Tower and Bexley Heritage Apartments, HUD-sponsored independent living, Creekside at the Village, premier independent apartments, Victor Weinstein Shalom House and Shalom House South, two MRDD group homes, Village Shalom Apartments, Heritage at Home, and the Larry & Leonore Zusman Jewish Community Hospice.
