Author Shares Insights for Yom Hashoah at Wexner Heritage Village
May 5, 2006

COLUMBUS, Ohio –Kevin Haworth, author of “The Discontinuity of Small Things” spoke about his book and its subject, the Jewish experience in Denmark during German occupation, at Wexner Heritage House on April 26. The event was part of the Auxiliary of Wexner Heritage House education series.
Haworth shared his thoughts on how and why the vast majority of Danish Jews survived the Holocaust citing the solid integration of Jews into the presiding culture and the quiet resentment many Danes had toward Germany while being occupied. The event coincided with Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, observed this year on April 25.
Haworth, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., obtained his master’s of fine arts degree in fiction writing from Arizona State University. He currently teaches literature and writing at Ohio University where his wife, Rabbi Danielle Leshaw, is executive director of the Hillel. Together they have two small children.
The Auxiliary performs volunteer work and raises funds for Wexner Heritage Village and also provides programs for its members. New members are always welcome. For information about joining the Auxiliary, please call Cynthia Huhn, director of activities and volunteer services, at 559-0235.
